Hello everyone, my name is Wisnton Smith I a low ranking citizen from Oceania, overall I am a pretty normal, regular looking guy, there’s nothing that special about me. I work in the Ministry of truth as a record clerk, I have no family except a wife but I no longer live with her, we don’t love each other but we can’t get divorced, so we live separated. I live next to Mrs. Parson, husband, and her two children.
The country where I live, Oceania is controlled by Big Brother and his party, and when I say controlled I really mean it, they have the country monitored with tele screens and pictures of him, everything you do or say goes through those annoying machines and eventually to Big Brother. It is depressing, repulsive, people don’t have freedom of opinion, neither of speech, you can’t oppose the enormous dictator that is Big Brother, people can’t do anything without his authorisation. And that makes life here be boring, no ups, no downs, things here happened as planned, and I am tired of it.
I am staring to write on my journal, even though it is considered a thoughtcrime, because I feel tired and desperate, I am opposing Big Brother, I want to do something about it, to corrupt the system. Life can’t be this depressed, people don’t find a better version of themselves, they do not aspire to do better and they just conform with what they have, which is the same as everybody else. This system is wrong, anti-productive, and overall it deteriorates people from their inside.
I am tired, I am done and I live in a place that needs to change, that’s the key word here: CHANGE. And I am going to make sure this country finally has change.
